Founded in 1986, by Susan Daubenspeck,
Betty Kersh and Claire Ottenstein-Ross, our main objective is to
facilitate and inspire poets to write more poetry. We provide
information about current poetry contests, feature guest poets on a
regular basis, study the masters of creative verse, and encourage
members. Poets are also encouraged to read their poems at each meeting.
About Poets
Northwest
The purpose of Poets Northwest is to
promote poetry in the community and to inspire poets to write more
poetry while learning different forms and techniques. We feature guest
poets, hold poetry workshops, critiquing sessions, and publish an
anthology every 2 years.
There is a wide variety of age groups
that participate, including grade school, high school, college and
adults from 20 to their 80s.
We have an annual Spring Fling
Contest which features over 30 categories with prizes that total over
$1,000. Poets Northwest is committed to assisting poets get published
and have many members who have published their own books as a result.
There is a Read-a-Round at every meeting where members and visitors can
